Day to day
By having 1 companion for every 6 children, we have the opportunity to take advantage to make their
day to day activities an experience in which they learn about science, history, geography, practical
The doors open at 9:00, but everyone joins the day at the time that is convenient for the family.
The day begins generating autonomy: they change their shoes, place their things and choose what space
they want to enjoy.
After greetings and a sharing experiences, they’ll decide and plan their morning.
Always with an attentive companion who offers support if necessary.
Children will decide “What do I want to do today?” and they will choose from giant constructions,
painting, crafts, clippings, creations with cardboard, imagination games, observing books, choosing
In those moments they have the companions attentive to create, paint, play or build near them, to be
able to cover their needs, in addition to acting as an example.
There is always fruit available in case children feel the need to eat and it is not yet the set time for lunch.
They will have access to a tablecloth, cloth napkin, plate, bowl, fork, spoon and glass, which they place
on the table, having the opportunity to enjoy the whole process. When finished, they scrub, collect and
together with the companions brush their teeth.
Depending on the day, an activity will be planned, which is carried out depending on the needs of the
Experience outside the school
We make excursions to the beach, to the small forest in La Ermita, to the Plaza Mayor, to the Public
Library to experience and enjoy in different parts of the town. (These excursions are part of each week.)
For us it is very important to play, build with branches, make sand mountains, enjoy a book, look for
insects, look at leaves, observe the clouds, ride a bicycle, use a scooter, play in a park, step on puddles,
etc ... because there is no bad day if we go well prepared.
Activities with extra companions (during these activities there are more companions, 1 for every 4
-Percussion space: we enjoy the company of a percussionist musician who makes us have a great time.
Art with madness: Our companion and artist gives us moments of great madness experimenting with
- English for kids: To enhance the proximity and familiarity of the English-speaking children, and for the
experience and cultural richness of our children who speak Spanish or other language, on Fridays we will
have the opportunity to share all morning with our companion who plays in English with everyone.
-Psychomotor development: a physical therapist will be with use to enjoy our other space, where we’ll
find mirrors, climbing wall and mats.
At the end of the morning we organize the toys and materials used together, leaving everything in its
place so we can enjoy again the next day.
We’ll finish the day by listening to a story and check in a
mirror if we are clean, combed and ready to go home.
We’re located at a house in the old town of Calpe; with our hands we gave life to spaces to allow
art, construction, play, imagination, reading, observation and autonomy be a reality.
Our first floor is wide and bright so children can enjoy the space. The upper floor was preserved in its
original state to give separate environments of art, play and construction.
Everything at the children reach is for your enjoyment.
We mostly use unstructured materials from nature.
We avoid plastic to the fullest, trying to get families to join this policy.
We provide materials for handicrafts, without restrictions on use.
Families are part of everyday life, either by contributing ideas, sharing their time or accompanying.
We love that they want to be part of everyday life and we are excited to believe La Escuelita may
become a second home for them.
We have sensitive people and believers of this project, who accompany and help when necessary,
always play and enjoy at the height of the children.
Our way of teaching is with the opportunities that arise to tell and contribute information, history,
practical mathematics or letters, being attentive listening to the needs that arise.
In La Escuelita we are all eyes and ears for the kids needs, always attentive to their emotions and needs.
