Centre d'Educació Infantil i Primària
Sa Llavor School was created in 2007 in Mancor de la Vall, Mallorca, as an independent and autonomous school with the mission of contributing to the development of a more conscious society.
Since its creation, Sa Llavor has been a pioneer in Holistic Pedagogy in Spain and works to introduce innovations in teaching methodology. Sa Llavor educates through experience and ethical principles, taking into account the vital, emotional, intellectual, social and spiritual needs of the child at each stage of their growth and development.
The school develops the objectives and criteria present in Spanish legislation in all its programmes, while at the same time respecting the growth and development needs of each educational stage. It links and integrates the different areas of knowledge present in the curriculum through interrelated and practical learning, putting special emphasis on building a connection with nature and art. Sa Llavor focuses on strengthening and empowering the ability to live, feel and think freely, fostering integral human development in each child.
In 2009 the Art, Culture and Nature line of action began to operate. This area of the foundation creates and offers training courses, events, artistic workshops, music classes, exhibitions and conferences which are open to the public.
In 2012 the Sa Llavor Teacher Training Programme began, consisting of courses aimed at educators and people interested in Holistic Education. The aim of the courses is to develop a new way of looking at the educational process and inspires creativity and intuition.
The Educational Investigation and Innovation Group was created in 2013. It is a working group formed by teachers of nursery, primary and secondary education from different educational centres in the Balearic Islands and professionals from other fields (sciences, arts and humanities). The group investigates educational trends as well as developing teaching aids for the wider educational community.
In 2017 Sa Llavor moved to new premises in Binissalem. The first students, who started nursery education in 2007, graduated.
In May 2018 Sa Llavor was officially recognised by the Department of Education, Culture and Universities of the Balearic Islands. It is the first school using holistic pedagogy to be certified by the Education Dept.
Today at Sa Llavor, we continue to work, evolve and improve in order to sow sustainable development in society through education.
