🌿 A LIVING EDUCATION IN NATURE
At Raíces Verdes, we offer an active education that respects the natural processes and authentic needs of childhood. We create learning environments where daily contact with nature and free play are the main pillars, supporting the physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development of children.
We also aim to offer families a space for connection, fostering a community of learning and reflection around respectful parenting and education. Our approach offers a meaningful alternative to early formal schooling, based on the true needs of children and their families.

🌱 NATURE CONNECTION AS A RIGHT
We are aware of the nature deficit affecting children in large cities like Seville, and the negative impact this lack of contact with the natural world has on their wellbeing. That’s why we actively defend the right to holistic health, which for children means being able to move, explore, play in the sun, build relationships, and grow in connection with their environment.
We are committed to creating real alternatives that respond to this reality—restoring spaces for freedom, play, and health.

✨ OUR PEDAGOGICAL ROOTS
WE ARE A LIVING EDUCATION PROJECT, INSPIRED BY DIVERSE PEDAGOGICAL APPROACHES:
🍃 Forest Schools, Nature-Based Education & Green Pedagogy: Nature brings constant change, discovery, and life. Learning becomes real and meaningful through direct, lived experiences.
🍃 The Montessori Philosophy: Emphasizing autonomy, freedom with responsibility, and adult guidance rooted in observation and deep respect.
🍃 Waldorf Education: We honor the rhythms of life and nature (day-night, seasons, tides) to support a balance between moments of outward expression and inward calm.
🍃 Rebeca Wild: Her ideas of prepared environments, prepared adults, and freedom with limits—always grounded in love and respect—deeply shape our work. We view limits as a form of care, offering children both autonomy and emotional safety.
🍃 FREE PLAY, in capital letters: We value and protect free play as an authentic and vital need in childhood—where creativity, imagination, and holistic development unfold.

🌞 OUR DAILY RHYTHMS
NATURAL FLOW
Our days follow the natural rhythms and needs of each child. We balance unstructured moments—where children freely choose their activities—with intentional invitations from the educators that help harmonize expansion and focus.
> “Just as the flower foretells the fruit, childhood is the promise of a person’s future.”
Rudolf Steiner

DAILY RHYTHM & TRANSITIONS
A typical day includes:
Arrival and warm welcome
Quiet time in the indoor prepared space
Nature walk to our daily spot
Picnic-style breakfast
Free play in nature
Lunch
More free play
Closing time with a story
Free play takes up most of the day because it is the true need of childhood. Through play, children develop cognitive, motor, communication, and social skills.
> “For a child, playing is the ability to carve out a piece of the world and explore it.”
Francesco Tonucci

💚 OUR PHILOSOPHY & VALUES
NATURE AS THE CLASSROOM
We propose a pedagogy based on hands-on, nature-based learning that nurtures children’s innate sense of belonging, care, and respect for the Earth.
> “If we want children to develop in a healthy way, we must first give them time to fall in love with the Earth, before asking them to save it.”
David Sobel
> “Learning is only lasting when it comes from experience. It has to reach the bones.”
Gerard Hüther

MIXED AGES
Our group includes children aged 2 to 6. Mixed-age learning enriches social interactions and peer learning.
We work with a small adult-child ratio of 1:8, creating a warm, familiar environment that allows for attentive, quality care. Depending on the age of the group, this ratio may be even smaller, ensuring that younger children receive the presence, support, and individual attention they need.

EVERYONE IS LEARNING
At Raíces Verdes, we are all learners—children, caregivers, families, and the whole community.
> “We learn to do by doing.”
Aristotle
---
COMMUNICATION & COMMUNITY
We cultivate respectful relationships through observation, active listening, and empathy. Our team has deep knowledge of child development and uses conscious, non-violent communication as a foundation for coexistence.
> “Empathy allows us to see the world in new ways and move forward.”
Marshall Rosenberg
---
MISTAKES ARE WELCOME
We value the learning process over the outcome. Everyone—children and adults alike—has the freedom to make mistakes and learn from them.
> “Any unnecessary help is an obstacle to learning.”
Maria Montessori
---
WE SUPPORT LIFE PROCESSES
We support children through presence, listening, and emotional availability, always respecting their rhythms and individual needs.
We set clear and caring boundaries, guided by firmness, kindness, and consistency.
