L´Escola del Bosc de la Selva is a nature-based educational project for children aged 2 to 6 years old, which was born in 2021 under the guidance of the Emys Foundation in Can Moragues Riudarenes. It is currently part of the Batecs del Bosc Association, which promotes nature contact for children.
The schedule is from 9 am to 4 pm, flexible entry and exit times.
A Forest School is an educational approach that aims to connect children with nature and foster their curiosity and learning through active and free exploration in the natural environment.
L´Escola del Bosc de la Selva is a project built on the foundations of the Forest School pedagogy and Living Education. These pedagogies value neuroscience knowledge, learning in nature, spaces for free play, respect for the rhythms and concerns of children, and respectful emotional support.
L´Escola del Bosc de la Selva offers a suitable space for children aged 2 to 6 years old. It is a heterogeneous group of children that allows them to learn from each other and grow together, regardless of their differences. This variety of perspectives and experiences enriches learning and promotes tolerance and respect for diversity. The group has a maximum of 15 children.
FREE PLAY occupies most of the day. Free play in nature promotes the physical and mental health and well-being of children as it encourages them to move and explore their surroundings. It helps them develop their imagination and creativity without limitations. This unstructured space facilitates connection with the natural world.
TRACKS AND PLANTS
Teaching children to follow forest tracks helps develop observation and problem-solving skills. Identifying plants that are safe to eat and those that are not is a way to promote responsibility and care for the environment. These real and sensory experiences contribute to growing their excitement for discovering and taking care of the world around them.
LANGUAGES: Catalan, Spanish, and English
The main language of communication is Catalan, while English and Spanish will be present in a complementary and integrated way in the activities and experiences offered by the forest school. Through games, music, stories, and more, learning a second language helps cognitive development, improves communication skills, and broadens children's cultural perspectives. Additionally, it allows them to be more flexible and better adapt to an increasingly globalized world.
