We believe that learning is not a linear, progressive, rhythmic and orderly process, always linked to consciousness; it is linked to vital well-being and, therefore, to the environment, to the quality of experience and communication. What determines the depth of learning is not the time invested or the adequacy of content by age, but the meaning of what is worked, activity and experience.
El Rusc wants to place the child at the center of learning and build an environment that is respectful of him and his needs. This requires creating organisational strategies that allow us to secure a space where everyone can feel safe and accepted. A space that fully trusts each person’s abilities to be autonomous and responsible for their development and learning process.
A space where you can live and share, where you can grow and love, where you can learn and enjoy life. A space where learning activities take place freely, voluntarily. The child chooses at all times what their action will be. This freedom of action is framed by all the conditions of a decision: with all the rights and duties, enjoyment and responsibility, consequences and satisfaction, and gain of autonomy. Only when children are free can they be responsible. And from here the child is addressed to environments prepared for learning according to their interest, always with respect to the freedom of others, and voluntarily participates in the proposals of activities of other children and the pedagogical team.
The pedagogical team supports this personal and non-transferable process so that each child can verbalize their needs, raise awareness in their decisions and define personal objectives. At the same time, it frames the social and cultural environment, the natural environment and belonging to the group itself to give context to personal processes.
El Rusc is based on the following principles:
- Democratic and participatory educational project committed to children, always through an attitude of listening and assessment of the different needs.
-Project based on the experience of learning and processes, on personal autonomy and on individual and collective responsibility.
- Self-managed project by a Pedagogical Team and the Governing Council, with a high level of involvement by families.
- Project based on the importance of the relationship with the social and natural environment for its growth and development and as well as that of the community that welcomes it.
- Project as a living organism and as a space for coexistence between adults and children.
- Project where children are recognized as citizens of our society.
Rusc is a primary school approved by the Department of Education since the 2023-24 academic year.
