CEI Elsedo – Public Early Childhood School
CEI Elsedo is a small-scale public early childhood school, located in a close and community-oriented environment.
It embraces a living and active pedagogy, with a careful and attentive approach to childhood, children’s rhythms, and their real needs.
The school follows an educational project currently in a process of renewal and improvement.
The centre is easily recognisable thanks to the artistic intervention on its façade, created by the artist Okuda San Miguel, which has become a distinctive feature of the building and a visual landmark within its surroundings.
Pedagogical foundations
Careful approach to childhood: children are understood as competent, curious and capable individuals.
Experiential and active learning: play, experimentation, exploration and direct experience.
Project-based learning and learning situations connected to the group’s interests and everyday life.
Coexistence and emotional climate: emotional support strategies, dialogued conflict resolution and restoration of harm.
Attention to individual rhythms within a safe and structured framework, characteristic of public education.
Integration of the official curriculum in a flexible and meaningful way into everyday classroom life.
Organisation and accompaniment
Mixed-age single classroom (ages 3 to 5) with a currently low student–teacher ratio, allowing for close and personalised attention.
Individualised observation, process-oriented support and stable relationships.
Conscious adult presence: adults observe, listen and guide with clear pedagogical intention, fostering an environment of wellbeing and trust.
Educational team
A committed teaching team, including the class teacher and itinerant specialist teachers.
Continuous reflection and ongoing professional development to strengthen the project within the public education framework.
