We use an active methodology based on competency-based learning through projects developed in parallel throughout the school year. This ensures autonomous learning that fosters students’ motivation and participation in teaching and learning processes, helps build study habits, and promotes a sense of satisfaction as they learn—guaranteeing a holistic and integral education.
Our students receive a personalized and individualized education. We are a small school, which allows us to respect each student’s individual learning pace and provide a type of education that supports their full personal development.
We correct inappropriate behaviours without using the concept of punishment. Our educational approach is grounded in positive discipline, affection, and understanding.
We understand mistakes as a natural part of the learning process. For this reason, among other practices, we do not correct with red ink but with green ink, and we never cross out a student’s work. Instead, we encourage students to identify the error and find ways to improve the quality of their work.
Our unique educational project allows us to enrich the learning experience, ensuring that each student completes their entire educational journey within the same institution—starting at Khalil Gibran Nursery School in Fuenlabrada and continuing at Khalil Gibran School.
“When a child can relate what they learn to their own experiences, their genuine interest awakens, their memory is activated, and what they learn becomes truly theirs.”
Active Methodology:
Individualized education: Only 22 students/class.
Our methodology is experiential, designed to provide fully hands-on and meaningful learning. Our Early Years classrooms are specifically designed to promote children’s holistic development. Every element in the classroom has a purpose and contributes to the child’s growth.
In the first cycle of Early Childhood Education, our methodology is grounded in hands-on activities, learning through discovery, and experimentation. We work through Artistic Installations in Early Childhood Education.
100% Bilingual Method:
80% of the school day is in English. We are an Official Cambridge Preparation Centre and an Official Exam Centre for Trinity College and Cambridge Linguaskill.
Our students learn English naturally and simultaneously with their mother tongue. At the end of Early Childhood Education, they take the Trinity College Grade 1 exam, achieving a 100% pass rate.
They move on to Primary Education with a strong foundation in comprehension and oral expression, enabling them to join a high-quality Bilingual Primary Programme. We use the Jolly Phonics method to develop accurate pronunciation from a very young age.
From 0 years old: We have a new classroom for 0-year-old students. For more information, please contact: admisiones@colegiokhalilgibran.es
Yoga at school (Yogi Kids programme) is part of the Educational Project at our nursery school in Fuenlabrada. It aims to improve attention and concentration, support emotional regulation, reduce anxiety and stress, and strengthen self-esteem in young children.
We teach children to swim in the school’s heated swimming pool. Students have one swimming session per week during school hours, from 1 year old up to 4th grade of Primary Education.
Educational Spaces:
Safe and fully equipped learning spaces that inspire curiosity, interest, and motivation. In Early Years classrooms, all materials are placed within the children’s reach to promote autonomy and freedom. In the 1 and 2-year-old classrooms, the floor has underfloor heating so students can safely learn to walk barefoot.
We have a school garden where children can experience real contact with plants and learn from a young age to respect nature.
Our Own Educational Approach – Pioneers in New Learning Methodologies:
We correct inappropriate behaviour without implementing punishment.
We view mistakes as an essential part of the learning process. For this reason, among others, we correct our students’ work using green ink.
We do not assign homework until 6th grade of Primary Education (ages 11–12). Our experience shows that homework at early ages is counterproductive. We take the same external exams as any other school in the Community of Madrid, and despite not assigning homework, our results are above the regional average.
