Ideal for families who homeschool their children and are looking for an environment that fosters true bilingual skills and embodies the best of alternative educational pedagogy. Our immersion project for young children takes place three days a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
A bilingual team of teachers and parent guides provides a balance between child-led activities and free play. Classes are well supported to allow for both individualised, structured, play-based learning and free, positive learning. Fridays are outdoor days and take place in a beautiful local park, where structured activities and free play are again mixed. The aim is to foster children's confidence, competence and creativity with a solid foundation from which they can grow individually and contribute creatively to our communities, as well as face the challenges and contradictions that are always present in society at large.
We are advocates of immersion learning, based on play and scaffolding, as we believe that a qualified, child-centred facilitator can often help children to creatively overcome what they can normally achieve on their own. Rather than adhering to a single pedagogical “brand”, we incorporate many years of experience and learning into a practical and balanced approach that addresses the inherent weaknesses of conventional education, while ensuring that our children develop the skills they need and for which they have a natural predisposition, using play, art, music, movement and imagination as fundamental pillars.
Background
We are a teacher and a coach; with many years experience, good and bad :) Seven years ago we escaped the international education system and came to Granada to create a language school. When our youngest son arrived we wanted something different for him; so when the lovely local alternative school in La Herradura that he attended sadly closed; we decided to take action and create an education project that would allow us to teach the way we like.
Below is a testimonial from one of our parents (who has tirelessly helped our children in these first few months and is both a dedicated home educator and a teacher in her own right):
"We are delighted with the school. The group is small and the learning activities are varied and well thought out. The children are learning a lot and faster than in a traditional school. Not to mention that they are learning English and Spanish almost without realising it. What's more, Bianca is wonderful with the children; she never shouts, but she knows how to get them to work. Everything is done with kindness and parents are often consulted. The icing on the cake is that there are lots of outdoor physical activities."
We look forward to meeting new potential students and their families, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
