Ses Arrels offers a Waldorf early childhood project in Olot (La Garrotxa), for children from 0 to 6 years old. It was created with the intention of offering a space where each child can grow at their own pace, in a safe, welcoming and respectful environment.
We believe that the first years of life are an essential stage, in which children need above all time, a present and attentive adult, and an environment that allows them to develop with confidence.
Our approach is based on observation: before intervening, we observe in order to understand. Every child is unique, and we are committed to getting to know each child, understanding their needs and accompanying them with respect for their individual stage of development.
Our vision of education
We understand education as accompaniment, not as an acceleration of developmental processes.
We offer an environment with rhythm, repetition and daily routines that provide children with a sense of security. We believe that freedom needs a framework to support it, and that children can only explore and discover the world when they feel safe.
Play, nature, stories, songs, the rhythms of the day and everyday activities are part of life at the escoleta. We do not aim to fill children’s time with constant stimulation, but rather to offer meaningful experiences.
Our question when looking at each child is not: “How do we get them to do this?”, but rather: “What does this child need in order to grow?”
The Waldorf approach
The project is inspired by Waldorf education, an educational approach that places respect for children’s developmental rhythms, free play, imagination, nature and the conscious presence of the adult at its centre.
For us, Waldorf is not only a methodology or a set of specific materials. It is a way of understanding childhood: observing, trusting and creating an environment where each child can unfold without rush or comparison.
The space
The escoleta is located in Olot, in an environment designed so that children can move, play, explore and build relationships in a calm atmosphere.
We work with small groups in order to offer close attention and an individualised approach to each child.
The team
The project is formed by people committed to accompanying early childhood with sensitivity, presence and respect.
We place great importance on the relationship between child and adult: the group guide is not simply someone who leads the daily activities, but a reference figure who observes, supports and creates an environment of trust.
Our future project
Ses Arrels is the first seed of a broader project dedicated to accompanying childhood and families.
Our vision is to gradually build an ecosystem that includes different stages and spaces of support: early childhood, school, family support and community.
