Corriols is a space for play, relationships, and learning for children aged 2 to 6 years old. A project born from the desire to create an environment of coexistence where children are accompanied with a loving and respectful approach.
We have designed a warm, safe, and trusting environment where children can develop by following their innate curiosity and motivations. We foster autonomy and self-regulation as the driving forces of their growth. Since its creation in September 2018, Corriols has continued to grow and evolve.
We believe in the importance of recognizing and dignifying each stage of childhood. We approach each child with respect, striving to understand their real needs and connect with their developmental stage. This way, we can listen to them, understand them, and accompany them on their life journey.
The body is the great ally of children: it is through their bodies that they act, discover, express emotions, and connect with the world. For this reason, we have created a space where manipulation, action, and experimentation are key to making them the true protagonists of their learning process.
As educators, we observe, reflect, and prepare materials adapted to the needs and interests of the children. We create relaxed environments that encourage discovery and the pursuit of new horizons. We design relational spaces where children feel the close presence of an adult who accompanies them with respect and freedom, allowing them to be and express themselves as they are.
We place special value on the quality of relationships, nurturing contact during moments of care and recognizing the importance of one-on-one connection. At the same time, we establish clear boundaries that provide security and help foster mutual respect among everyone.
We also support children in their first discoveries about relationships with others. These spontaneous interactions may arise from sharing games, wanting the same material, showing interest in others, or through imitation. These moments often evoke intense emotions, from reluctance to share to the need to manage conflicts. The educator is present, carefully guiding these interactions with attention and sensitivity. This way, children can experience and express their emotions in a safe and caring environment, addressing frustrations and conflicts with support and presence. They learn to listen to their needs while also finding solutions when they want different things.
At Corriols, nature is a constant source of inspiration and connection with life. We marvel at what surrounds us: an anthill, a stork flying overhead… Every observation is accompanied by gestures and looks that recognize and value the child’s emotion.
We firmly believe that this journey would not be possible without nurturing the relationships woven between all the people in the community. Although Corriols is a space designed for children, families are an essential part of the project. Their presence in daily life, participation in workshops and activities, and involvement in the familiarization process are key to building the bonds that allow us to grow together.
